Astronomy never ceases to amaze. There are many stars our there. There are many Sun-like stars. Many of those Sun-like stars do not have Earth-like planets orbiting them. There are many planets out there. Many are not Earth-like. There are many Earth-like planets orbiting stars that are not Sun-like. As astronomers look for life elsewhere in the Solar System, they are looking for Earth-like planets orbiting Sun-like stars. Recently, astronomers discovered an Earth-like planet orbiting a Sun-like star.
This planet is about twice the size of the Earth and receives over 90% of the same amount of light the Earth receives. That makes it similar to Earth in a Solar System similar to ours. Does this mean this planet has life? Nope. In fact, it probably doesn't. But it does mean there are Earth-like planets out there orbiting Sun-like stars, and that increases the odd life of some kind exists. Super cool!
